Throwback Thursday! - "Babe" Ruth
Throwback Thursday ! Today ’s throwback Thursday is Yankees legend George “Babe” Ruth. Babe was born on February 6th, 1895 in Pigtown, Baltimore, Maryland. The Great Bambino was a larger than life figure that loved everyone and everyone loved him. Not only was he a phenomenal baseball player, he was a staple in the community who loved to help everyone around him. Ruth started his career playing for the Boston Red Sox where he quickly became the best player in the league. He played almost every position including pitcher where he won 23 games for the Red Sox and eventually won the leagues home run title in 1919. This is something that has never been done in modern era of baseball since. After the season of 1919, Red Sox owner Harry Frazee sold Babe to the New York Yankees which eventually became known as the Curse of the Bambino.
